World Harvest Church had its beginnings with 17 people
meeting in the backyard of the home of Pastor Parsley's parents in the spring of
1977. The congregation soon moved into rented facilities in a local warehouse. Within
two years, the Wright Road property had been purchased and a sanctuary seating 180
people had been built. In the summer of 1982 that sanctuary was expanded, doubling
the seating capacity. Soon the congregation had grown to the point that a second
Sunday morning service was added to accommodate the people. This soon prompted another
building program, and in 1984 an adjoining 1,200 seat sanctuary was occupied.
Property on Gender
Road was purchased for the new sanctuary complex and ground was broken in the summer
of 1986. The new facilities occupied in November of 1987, housed a 5,200 seat auditorium,
television studio, children's ministry, the growing Harvest Preparatory School,
and the administrative offices.
